⚡️🇮🇹🚨 From today the decree that allows Italian police forces to use artificial intelligence systems for biometric data recognition, including face, iris or physical characteristics such as gait, comes into force, in specific cases even in real time.

🔻 Legislative decree no. 160/2026 will allow the PM, during preliminary investigations, to request remote biometric identification in the cases provided by law, according to specific procedures and authorisations.

🔻 In emergency cases provided for real‑time identification, judicial police can now activate the system without prior authorisation, subsequently requesting its validation.

🔻 Biometric comparison can only be carried out with a specific and authorised database, prohibiting untargeted scraping, i.e. indiscriminate collection of images from the internet or cameras to create or expand facial recognition databases.
