⚡️🇪🇸🔥 The Burgohondo fire, in the province of Ávila, has reached around 50,000 hectares burned, becoming the largest ever recorded in Spanish history. From the beginning of 2026, more than 153,000 hectares have gone up in smoke, six times the surface area destroyed in the same period of 2025.

🔻Active fires between Ávila, Madrid, Toledo and Castellón have affected over 81,000 hectares and involve more than 110,000 people between evacuees and confined individuals. In the Madrid, Ávila and Toledo areas alone, nearly 90,000 people are involved, while another 16,000 residents have been evacuated or confined in the Castellón province.

🔻Spain has mobilized dozens of aircraft and ground vehicles with the support of the European Civil Protection Mechanism. Italy, Greece, Portugal and Turkey have sent men and fire-fighting aircraft to support the fire-extinguishing operations.
