⚡️🇫🇷🇳🇨🚨 The French State and the political forces of Kanaky New Caledonia have signed an agreement establishing a "New Caledonia State" with double nationality French and Caledonian , broad institutional autonomy, and the ability to conclude its own economic and commercial agreements.

🔻 The new status, which will be inscribed in the French Constitution, maintains Kanaky within the republican framework, but recognizes its capacity for self-organization and international representation. Sovereign competences such as defense, security, and justice remain under French control.

🔻 Voting rights will be extended to residents of over 10 years, following the tensions that erupted in 2024 against the electoral reform. The agreement also includes an "economic refounding plan", with a focus on the nickel supply chain, a strategic resource for the archipelago that represents over 90% of exports.

🔻 The text will be submitted to parliamentary ratification in France and to a local referendum in 2026.
